The reference photos are taken spontaneously : the faces are overexposed, the contrasts increased, the framing is off-center and brought closer to bring a dimension of proximity. My job as a painter is to draw out the essence of these models and pictorially accentuate them. Acrylic allows me to superimpose layers quickly and play with transparencies (here on paper). I leave brush marks to show the regrets (pentimento) : they reveal the progressive construction of the canvas.
